Carlsbad Campgrounds is one of my favorite surf spots. This wave may look like a foamy, frothy mess to some, but to locals, they recognize its potential for great surf. The background of this painting is purposefully out of focus, depicting a soft view of the bluffs and the Carlsbad power plant. At first glance, the power plant may look like the factory from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but, to locals, it is a landmark just as iconic as the Carlsbad lagoons, flower fields, windmill, strawberry fields, beaches and yes…the waves.
